Ordering prescription glasses online can feel risky the first time — what if the fit is wrong, or the prescription doesn't transfer correctly? Here's a practical guide to doing it right, whether you're ordering from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, or anywhere else in Pakistan.
1. Get a Current, Complete Prescription
Your prescription should include the sphere (SPH), cylinder (CYL) and axis if you have astigmatism, and any ADD power if you need bifocal or progressive lenses. Prescriptions from your optometrist are generally valid for one to two years — if yours is older than that, it's worth getting your eyes re-checked before ordering.
2. Know Your Pupillary Distance (PD)
PD is the distance between your pupils in millimetres, and it's what determines whether your lenses are optically centred correctly. Many prescriptions don't include it by default — you can ask your optometrist to measure it, or use a PD ruler at home. Getting this right matters more for higher prescriptions and progressive lenses.
3. Choosing the Right Lens Type
- Single vision — one correction for distance or reading, the most common type.
- Blue light filter — worth considering if you spend long hours on screens for work or study, which describes most office and student life in Pakistan today.
- Photochromic (transition) lenses — darken automatically in sunlight, useful if you're moving between indoor and Pakistan's bright outdoor light often and don't want to carry two pairs.
4. Frame Fit Without Trying It On
Check your current glasses' frame width and compare it to the measurements listed on the product page (lens width, bridge width, temple length — usually printed inside your current frame's arm). If you're ever unsure, our team can help you pick a size over WhatsApp or phone before you order.
5. What Happens After You Order
Once your prescription and frame selection are confirmed, lenses are cut and fitted to your frame before dispatch. Orders typically ship within 5-7 business days, with free standard delivery across Pakistan on orders over Rs. 6,000. You'll get a tracking number by email once it's on its way.
